Construction of UGM Museum Has Started

Initial construction of UGM Museum started today  (15/5). Temporarily, the location is at the Bulaksumur official residence of D6 and D7. The event was marked with prayers and handover of keys from Vice Rector for Research and Community Service, Prof. Dr. Suratman, M.Sc., to contractors, witnessed by team members: Prof. Dr. dr. Sutaryo, Sp.A(K), Drs. Arif Akhyat, M.A., Heri Santoso, S.S., M.Hum., Widodo Usman, S.TP., M.Sc. , Ari Kusmiran, S.Kom, Dra. Suwarni, Ari Cahyono, S.Si., etc.

UGM Assists Ecotourism Development of Maratua Island


UGM continues to be a higher learning institution that develops science and culture for Indonesian independence and prosperity. Many measures are taken to make UGM a national university to which people can refer to by running quality education, research and community service.
One form of community service developed by UGM is Kuliah Kerja Nyata Pembelajaran Pemberdayaan Masyarakat (KKN-PPM) or Student Community Service Programme that has brought particular themes to manage local potential so it can encourage independence and prosperity.

Growing Big, Indonesian Manufacture Industry


YOGYAKARTA – The Indonesian economic growth which is number three in the world after China and India is not merely rumours but a fact. This is proved by the increased number of middle class in Indonesia which amounts to 36 millions, not to mention the rise of manufacture industry that most have dominated world market shares. Therefore, the strength of the economy has become an asset for Indonesia to enter the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015.

Earning International Award after Researching Dove Orchid


Dove orchid (Dendrobium crumenatum Swartz) is not known by many people. The orchid only blossoms for once. It has the potential as anticancer candidate. Thus was the research conducted by a team from Biology Faculty of UGM, consisting of Ardaning Nuriliani, Nastiti Wijayanti, Atiek Kusmiyati, Yekti Asih Purwestri and Riski Topriyani.

According to Ardaning Nuriliani, M.Kes., research on dendrobium genus has been done in China, Japan and Africa for drug production. Dendrobium is believed to have anticancer and antitumor potential.

UGM Enlarges Student Enrollment for the Most Left Behind Regions


 
Universitas Gadjah Mada reinstates to enlarge student enrollment from the most left behind, remote, and outlying regions to be able to enjoy quality education.

Vice Rector for Academic and Students, Prof. dr. Iwan Dwiprahasto, M.Med.Sc., Ph.D, said the affirmative policy was encouraged to give opportunities for student candidates from those regions in order that they can reinforce their local government after graduating.
