Minister of Youth and Sport, Sri Sultan and Rector of UGM Launch Biking Movement

YOGYAKARTA – Minister of Youth and Sport, Roy Suryo, along with Governor of Yogyakarta Special Region, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, and Rector of UGM, Prof. Dr. Pratikno, M.Soc., Sc., launched cycling movement in the Pagelaran Kraton Yogyakarta, Saturday (16/2), marked with the signing of a stone tablet of commitment to realise the ‘Jogja Biking Republic’.

UGM Experts Review Beef Import Policy

The government is seen as not serious nor having a clear concept in food self-supply, particularly in terms of beef import. Even records on cow population are different depending on each agency that keeps the record.

Such topic was raised in a discussion among experts from Faculty of Animal Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural Technology and Institute for Research and Community Service UGM related to beef import policy on Wednesday (13/2) afterrnoon in Faculty of Animal Sciences UGM.

Change of culture in the reform era should have been able to change the bad habit, too, but it did not. Such bad practices still mark the society’s way of life.

The State Responsible for Gap in Quality Education

The gap in quality education - which also impacts in different quality of graduates – has long taken place in Indonesian schools. Such a gap has narrowed opportunities for people, especially the impoverished ones, to access education services that are sufficient and proper. If the gap continues to take place, a big number of potential human resources will be harder to find.

Government Fails to Keep Meat Supply and Demand

 

Over the past six months, in particular after the last Ramadan, the price of beef has increased from Rp60,000,

culminating to over Rp90,000 per kg this week. This is the highest price in the world as compared to world average price which is Rp38,000 - Rp72,000 per kg.
