16 UGM Students Received Scholarships from Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi
The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi (UFJ), again, provides scholarships to 16 students of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in S1 level. Scholarship handover was marked with the presentation of certificates of scholarship to students by the Director of The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Mr. Shigemitsu Miki, on Thursday (21/10) at Multimedia Room, UGM Main Office.
Among the sixteen students are 10 students of Faculty of Economics and Business, 4 students of Faculty of Law, and 2 students of Faculty of Cultural Sciences. Every student gets scholarship fund of 258,000 rupiah per month for one year.
The scholarship handover was also witnessed by UGM Rector, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi., M. Eng., Ph.D., Director of Student Affairs. Drs. Haryanto., M.Sc., Executive Secretary, Drs. Djoko Moerdianto., M.A, and General Manager of UFJ, Mr. Kimihisa Imada.
Sudjarwadi expressed his gratitude to UFJ for the scholarship. The scholarship is expected to encourage the future and career of UGM students. "We hope this scholarship can facilitate students' future and career," the Rector said.
He mentioned that the scholarship is in accordance with UGM mission: to implement education, research, and community service that aim to deliver the young generation to pursue higher education. "The expectation is that the younger generation will use the knowledge to develop the nation and humanity," he said.
Director of The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi (UFJ), Mr. Shigemitsu Miki, said that the scholarship is one manifestation of the company’s concern in developing the younger generation. "This scholarship is the company's contribution for improving the quality of Indonesian young generation. In terms of amount, it's not so much, but we hope the scholarship can be used well,” he explained.
As it is known, the scholarship of The Bank Of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ to UGM has been started since 1984 through Sanwa Bank scholarship. In 2003-2006 it was followed by UFJ Bank Foundation. Currently, the scholarship is provided by The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ managed by UGM Student Welfare Affairs.
