International Students Learn Rural Culture

No less than 30 international students from France, Germany and the Netherlands of Faculty of Economics and Business of Universitas Gadjah Mada were exploring the lives of rural community in the Pentingsari tourism village in Cangkringan, Sleman regency, on Saturday. (18/5)

The double degree and student exchange were learning how to paint batik, play gamelan, collect fish as well as visit traditional drugs company. “I’m happy with this activity where I learned more of the local culture,” said Judith Meigler from Germany.

Addie MS, Guest Star in UGM Orchestra


YOGYAKARTA – Conductor of Twilite Orchestra, Addie Muljadi Sumaatmadja or Addie MS, will become a guest star in UGM student orchestra on Saturday (18/5) in Concert Hall, Taman Budaya Yogyakarta. Addie MS will present 2 repertoirs to 1,000 audience.

“I will conduct two songs, one is sung by Lea Simanjuntak, the other is an E.T. soundtrack,” said Addie MS in Tentrem Hotel, Yogyakarta, Friday (17/5).

UGM Develops Gama Sweet Corn Hybird


Corn is a crop grown in Indonesia but the fulfillment of superior corn seed is still dominated by multi-national corporations. Therefore, researchers from Faculty of Biology of UGM, Dr. Budi Setiadi Daryono, M.Agr.Sc. and team in cooperation with PT. Agri Makmur Pertiwi (AMP) and Balitsereal Maros and the Agricultural Research, Training and Development Station (KP4) of UGM in making corn hybrid varieties with beta carotene and high productivity (Gama Sweet Corn).
