Garden Education, Research and Development of Agriculture or the Agricultural Training, Research and Development Station (KP4/ATRD) University of Gadjah Mada area of 35 hectares was established in 1975 with the help of The Rockefeller Foundation. Location KP4 are in Kalitirto, Berbah, Sleman, located about 15 km from the main campus of GMU. Furthermore, according to Education Minister Decree No.: 0132/0/93 on Organization and Administration of the University of Gadjah Mada University, UGM KP4 have status as a Sub-Unit of Research Support Facility, which is operationally responsible to the Rector ups. Vice Rector I, was supporting them under GMU Research Institute.

Based on UGM Rector Decree No.: 168/P/SK/HKTL/2003 has held Change of Name of Estate Education, Research and Agricultural Experiment GMU became Gardens of Education, Research and Development of Agriculture UGM with similar names (KP4 UGM). Furthermore, based on UGM Rector Decree No.: 259/P/SK/HT/2004 on Organization and Duties Details Office of Executive Board, the Institute, Director, Bureau, and Environment Unit at the University of Gadjah Mada, KP4 consists of 2 areas, namely: Education , Research and Development of Agricultural Crops and fields of Education, Research and Development of Animal Husbandry. KP4-GMU is operationally responsible to the Rector ups. Vice Rector for Research and Community Services.
