Chinese Ambassador, Zhang Qiyue, asserted that he is ready to strengthen the cooperation of China's three major universities with UGM. Those Chinese universities are Beijing University, Guangzhou University, and Quangdong University.
This was delivered by Zhang Qiyue during the meeting with the UGM Rector Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M. Eng., Ph.D., who was accompanied by Senior Vice Rector for Education, Research, and Community Service, Prof. Dr. Retno Sunarminingsih, M.Sc. Apt., and Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Dr. Muhammad Mukhtasar Syamsuddin. "The Ambassador said the three universities maintained the continuity of cooperation," said Mukhtasar to the reporters on Friday (24/9).
According to Mukhtasar, three forms of cooperation will be established, among others, the Faculty of Pharmacy's cooperation with Beijing University to study herbs. "The Ambassador requested that the cooperation is carried out directly between the related faculties and the Ambassador is ready to facilitate it," he said.
Meanwhile, Faculty of Psychology is also planning to cooperate with those three universities to work together to develop indigenous psychology. Furthermore, the Faculty of Philosophy and Faculty of Cultural Sciences will form a Research and Development Institute of Philosophy of Confucius with Quangdong University. "Facultyof Philosophy and Faculty of Cultural Sciences will establish the Confucius's Philosophy Research Center with Quangdong university," he said.
During the meeting, Zhang Qiyue was accompanied by Chinese Deputy Minister for Research and Technology and a delegation from the Ministry of Education.
Prof. Retno Sunarminingsih conveyed that UGM is now seeking international cooperation with universities from various countries. In addition to improve the reputation of UGM at the international level, the cooperation is expected to support educational, research, and community service programs. "Of course, UGM is very enthusiastic about the expansion of this cooperation, especially UGM has a vocational school, undergraduate, and graduate education programs," she said.
