Indonesia’s independence should not be based on external values but Pancasila values.

According to Prof. Dr. dr. Sutaryo, said that many groups are seen as reckless in treating noble inherited values, even Indonesia is seen as selling its own freedom.

"It’s up to the point when we’re not convinced whether the Unitary Republic of Indonesia would still exist in the next ten years,” he said in the Senate Hall of UGM (30/5) during the course on Pancasila.

Despite the indepence, Sutaryo said, many have not enjoyed it. Numerous policies affecting common lives are influenced by foreign sides. The state is in the risk of getting split.

"All for all policy during the reign of President Soekarno no longer exists. We, however, have to be optimistic, with this course of Pancasila, we would be able to resolve all things by uniting ourselves together,” he said.

KH. Muhammad Jazir, ASP, said it is time for the state of Indonesia to re-manouvre to be able to see its own ideology. The ideology of Pancasila has been proven to be able to release itself from Western Imperialism in the past to restructure the lives, decide more appropriate policies for its own sake.

"Pancasila is a driving ideology that can build Indonesia as a strong state over the ruins of Western colonialism, it had even inspired more than half of the world to free themselves from colonialism,” said Muh. Jazir.

Yudi Latief, M.A., Ph.D, expert staff from Pancasila Centre of Studies of UGM, said the development of ideology was interesting, because those from the left wing had eventually embraced Pancasila as their ideology, so had the right wing.

Yudi said there were many ways to go to Pancasila. As an example, the financial crisis in the U.S. had been resolved by President Obama through Pancasila approach.
