In 2016 all countries and stakeholders, acting in collaborative partnership are starting to implement Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With its 17 goals and 169 targets, all elements are integrated and implemented through the balance of economic, socio cultural and environmental dimensions for the current need and next generation. Higher education plays an important role in providing solutions for problems encountered with in society such as natural disaster, climate change, epidemic disease pattern, excessive rain drought, flood, and other problems that are mostly due to human misbehaviour in dealing with the nature’s sustainable system. Effort is needed to change human mind set and behaviour to develop awareness, capacity, and action toward sustainable condition and this is a university commitment to engage with community. Youth is an agent of change towards development and play important roles in making our sustainable future. Therefore, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) targets youth in promoting the achievement of SDGs. This year, UGM hosts the 2nd Indonesian Youth Conference on Sustainable Development, with the theme “Community Resilience for Promoting Sustainable Development Goals in Changing Climate”.
The 2nd Indonesian Youth Conference on Sustainable Development -Community Resilience for Promoting Sustainable Development Goals in Changing Climate aim:
- To provide transformative learning space for young individuals to contribute to sustainable development and their community.
- To strengthen networking and share the good practices and experiences in managing and implementing the SDGs related to climate change.
